Facebook is useful.
TikTok can reach millions of people.
But none of them are really your website.
Your social media profile lives on someone else's platform.
The design can change.
The algorithm can change.
The platform can change.
And people visiting your profile may have to scroll through posts just to figure out what you actually do.
A website gives you control over the presentation.
You decide what people see first.
You decide how your story is organised.
You decide where your services, portfolio, contact information and other important details appear.
That doesn't mean you should abandon social media.
Quite the opposite.
Use social media to get discovered.
Use your website to give people somewhere to go.
Instagram can introduce you.
Your website can explain you.
That's the difference.
